Creative Lube No 14: Risks
To be in business requires taking risks. In this Creative Lube Leslie talks about our aversion to risks, some causes, some things you can do to mitigate getting "bound" by risk, and offers one of her own marketing risks as a real-life example.
You can help keep advertising off this site and help Leslie keep the Manuals and her Super Premium Blog free of ads.
THIS IS ENTIRELY VOLUNTARY! You can download any of the podcasts without paying a cent. We do hope you will consider helping out, however, when you can.

Leslie has been professionally involved in the creative industries since 1992, although she grew up in a house of creatives.
In the course of her career she has been a studio and marketing manager for photographers (including producing shoots), a business manager and producer for an interactive design firm, and an organizational dominatrix for an advertising agency (imagine combining an AB with a traffic manager and add a dash of AE). After repeated suggestions from photographer friends that she become a rep, she launched Burns Auto Parts in September of 1999. She named her company after her grandfather’s old business (he really did sell auto parts) partly because she appreciated the irony in it, and partly because “Leslie Burns Reps” sounded too much like a bad tabloid headline. When she moved into consulting full-time (and stopped repping) the name had already stuck.
